Eventually, the pressure of the water against the colon walls stimulates peristaltic contraction of the colon, increasing its muscle tone and relieving you of the toxic contents through the closed system. This process continues for about 45 minutes and usually evokes no more discomfort than what you sense at the onset of diarrhea. The client always maintains control of the session with the therapist serving as a facilitator to the process. All equipment is disposable and the water is purified and treated by ultraviolet light.
